Quantcast Bay Island Bonsai - 10th Anniversary Exhibit - Setting Up

Bay Island Bonsai - 10th Anniversary Exhibit - Setting Up

Posted Jan 26, 2009 by matsubonsai

A lot of work goes into setting up a world class exhibit like the Bay Island Bonsai (BIB) Exhibit of Fine Bonsai.  Every member of the club and all of the attending Intensive students were on site to lend a hand.  Trees were loaded up in 2 large moving vans.  Backdrops and table skirting was loaded, unloaded, and laid across all the tables.  Skirting was ironed to remove any wrinkles.  Show trees, sale items, and everything for the auction was staged behind the curtains that seperated the show area from the rest of the hall.

The first truck is being loaded with show trees First truck is almost full of show trees. It took 3 truckloads to get everything to the hall.

Staging area for the show trees The backdrops are going together nicely.

The display stands are kept out of the way until the display area is all setup. More bonsai display stands tucked out of the way.

The trees are starting to be placed.

It's lovely to see real bonsai ... there are so many places that are selling actual cut down bushes rather than bonsai trees - I was beginning to thing that the art was lost forever. I do hope that you will be able, at some point to take a few close ups of some of these amazing perfect trees.

I appreciate an art that not only requires skill but years of patience! Truly lovely.
