One of my friends, Bill Johnson, from the Bonsai Society of Greater Cincinnati announced a new site recently, Bonsai Bench. The site allows for monthly care calendar additions and updates to be shared with bonsai growers around the world. Each entry is zone specific, so you can find the proper care instructions for your own location.
He asked me to contribute to the site. I've added 3 entries so far (Japanese Black Pine, Japanese Maple, Shimpaku Juniper) and hope to add more in the near future.
From the Bonsai Bench website:
BonsaiBench is a free resource for sharing knowledge about how to care for and train bonsai. Almost anyone who has progressed beyond the beginner stage in bonsai owes a debt to people willing to share their experience and advice. This site is an effort to provide a medium for anyone who wants to share their experience caring for bonsai and allow them to reach as many users as possible.
If you are interested in helping this site become an actively-used knowledge resource, the most important thing you can do is to enter information about species you grow as bonsai and encourage the most experienced people you know to do the same. Also, if you are aware of bonsai clubs that are not listed in our organization directory please provide us with that information so they can be listed in our organizational links.
It's obvious a lot of thought and effort went into the creation of this site. I would encourage others to contribute as much knowledge as they can in order to make Bonsai Bench a success.
