The Greater Louisville Bonsai Society met this morning at the Okolona Fence company to work on club trees. We met at 10am to clean, wire, trim, and repot trees that the club is planning to sell at our upcoming Spring Bonsai Show at Yew Dell Gardens. Several members were on hand to help do the work. It looks like the club will have plenty of shimpaku junipers, procumbens, chinese elms, and japanese maples to sell. There was also some discussion about having members bring some of their own personal trees to sell. I'm really looking forward to this show, and will keep an eye on the vendors area to see if I can pick up some good trees.
One tree did catch my eye this morning. This Betula platyphylla var. japonica `Whitespire' came home with me. I spent an hour or so working on the roots and repotting into this Tokoname pot. The pot choice isn't perfect, but does look pretty good. What do you think?
